IT Helpdesk Technician

Location: UK - London

4Wall Europe is a global video and lighting service provider at the cutting-edge of event technology. With 3 UK locations and 11 across the US, we partner with some of the best-known brands in the world to provide a complete AV and lighting solution for concerts & touring, TV studios, exhibitions, virtual events and other sectors; from design integration services to AV technology installation.

We are seeking a passionate IT Helpdesk Technician to join our 4Wall team.  Based at our European headquarters in Harlow, Essex and working closely with our IT team in the US, to provide a seamless and high quality service to the internal business.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with desktop hardware, software applications, operating systems, and network connectivity.  They will also have a customer service orientated approach and the ability to be proactive in anticipating and resolving problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical support to users at all levels within the company across a broad range of desktop and office-based technologies.
  • Completing routine tasks and checks to ensure systems are running smoothly.
  • Resolving Helpdesk support tickets in a timely and professional manor, ensuring they are logged within our internal system.
  • Creating user accounts and managing access control based on company policies.
  • Troubleshooting issues relating to internal software, hardware and networks
  • Maintaining an inventory of installed software, managing software licensing, creating policies and procedures for upgrades.
  • Working with hardware and software suppliers to verify timely product delivery, ensuring that new equipment is installed and ready to operate on schedule.
  • Analysing and making recommendations for hardware and software standardisation.

Qualifications and pre-requisites:

  • Excellent technical ability and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS, Mac OS, Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac, Outlook, mobile devices, desktop systems and servers.
  • Troubleshooting skills relating to PC’s, printers, scanners, network infrastructure and phones (including mobile devices).
  • Computer Networking knowledge and hands on experience.
  • General knowledge of Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
  • A degree or certification in a technology related subject.
  • Confident in understanding client needs.
  • Clear and concise communication.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Can work well under pressure and use own initiative to set own targets and problem solve.
  • Able to be flexible where necessary to meet the needs of the business.

Working hours: 

Full time, 40 hours per week, typically 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

Overtime will be required during busy periods as necessitated by the needs of the business which will include early mornings, late evening and some weekend working.  The ability to facilitate this is key as the needs of the business are paramount.
