Cable Department Lead
Location: LondonWe are seeking a Cable Lead to join our UK warehouse team and take responsibility for the day-to-day management of our cable department. This role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership, ensuring all cables, connectors, and consumables are maintained, tested, organised, and prepared to the highest standards.
The Cable Lead is responsible for overseeing a busy, fast-paced cable department, supporting and coordinating technicians, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring that all cables and connectors are prepared and available to support projects across the business.
The role will be based at our Hertford warehouse. Occasional travel to our other UK locations, including Harlow, may be required on a short-term basis to support operational requirements and projects. Travel costs associated with this transition will be covered by the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the Cable Department team to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Maintain high standards of quality control across all cable and connector preparation activities.
- Test, inspect, repair, label, and organise cables and connectors to company standards.
- Ensure cable trunks, consumables, and associated equipment are maintained and ready for deployment.
- Pull, prepare, and allocate cables and equipment for jobs in line with operational schedules.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages of cables, connectors, spares, and consumables.
- Maintain accurate records using the asset management system.
- Liaise with warehouse and operations teams to ensure equipment requirements are met.
- Support loading and unloading activities and wider warehouse operations when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment in line with Health & Safety standards.
About You
- Previous experience working with professional AV, lighting, power, or data cabling is essential.
- Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a team in a warehouse or technical environment.
- Good understanding of cable preparation, testing, maintenance, and organisation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Organised and able to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable using computer systems and asset management software.
- Positive, proactive, and team-oriented approach to work.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to other company locations as required.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving equipment up to 25kg and working in an active warehouse environment.
- Flexible and willing to work overtime, evenings, and weekends when required.
