What is truss and what is it used for?

Truss

Truss is a structural framework, typically made from steel or aluminum alloy, used to create a rigid mounting surface for lighting fixtures, speakers, video equipment, scenic elements, and other production gear. Truss distributes the weight of hung equipment across multiple rigging points and provides a strong, lightweight structural backbone for overhead production systems.

Truss can be flown from overhead rigging points using chain motors, or it can be ground-supported using vertical tower systems with base plates. The configuration depends on the venue's rigging infrastructure, the weight being supported, and the desired trim height. 4Wall stocks truss from Tomcat, Tyler, and other manufacturers in a range of sizes and profiles.
