How much power does event lighting require?
Event Lighting Basics
Power requirements depend on the size of the rig, the types of fixtures, and whether you're using LED or conventional/lamp-based equipment. LED fixtures draw significantly less power than their lamp-based equivalents. A single LED moving light might draw 500-1,000 watts, while a comparable lamp-based mover could draw 1,200-1,500+ watts. Conventional tungsten fixtures like PAR64s draw 500-1,000 watts each.
For a small corporate event with uplights and a few moving lights, existing venue power (standard 20A circuits) may be sufficient. For concert-scale rigs with dozens of moving lights, LED walls, and audio, you'll need dedicated power distribution, often fed from house power disconnects or portable generators. Your production team or 4Wall's engineering staff should do a power calculation as part of the advance process to ensure the venue can support the full rig safely.
