General Summary
The Director of National Operations has primary responsibility of providing oversight, coordination, supervision (guidance), planning, administration, training and logistical support for all of the Shop operations across the company. They are responsible for not only the quality of gear and service, but also the efficiency and productivity of the entire operations staff to ensure maximum revenue generation, cost control and profitability. The Director of National Operations will build rapport with both internal and external clients and strive to maintain business commitments that allow fulfillment of defined service agreements.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Basic Duties
- Develop, analyze and improve facility operations systems by determining product flow, product handling systems and storage requirements.
- Implement, enforce, and provide feedback on standard operating procedures; develop processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
- In coordination with the Location General Manager and Operations Manager, monitor shop budgets for the location.
- Assist Ops Managers with staffing levels and labor budgeting
- Utilize IT-supported software/Apps (i.e., Teams, OKTA, RW, etc.)
- Attend sales meetings for assigned locations
- Assist Ops Managers with hiring shop roles (2nd interview)
- Assist ICM with scheduling of inventory
- Assist Ops Managers with shop supply orders
- Ensure proper recruiting, training, coaching, and disciplining of employees; appraise, review and communicate expectations of performance; determine and review compensation actions; enforce policies and procedures.
- Support the Shop Foreman and Safety Coordinator in ascertaining the needed resources to follow the 4Wall Safety Program.

Other Duties
- Work closely with the VP of Operations and Integration and e Audio, Rigging, Lighting, and Video Services VPs on any national Standard Operation Procedures and standards that need to be implemented.
- Manage the presentation and maintenance of the facility, trucks, and other operating assets. Accountable for the quality of the rental gear and the efficient service of the rental staff. Identify areas for process, inventory and operational improvements.
- Monitor rental equipment repairs. Suggest movement of repairs between shop to facilitate speedy repairs.
- Monitor common equipment problems and communicate them to the asset team.
- Monitor location work loads and assist with peak workloads utilizing employees from slower locations
- Work with location Ops Managers and General Managers to suggest shop improvements to maintain or increase operational efficiency.
- Keep the General Manager apprised of any ongoing shop operations issues, concerns, observations, etc.
- Ensure accuracy of the inventory in Rental Works. Responsible for managing missing equipment policies and procedures through management of employees generating and overseeing the reporting. Works with asset management and the used-sales staff to transfer or sell assets.
- Oversee cross-rental returns to ensure cross-rental are returned in a timely manner.
- Monitor the operational side of the profit & loss statement for the locations and should work with the Ops Managers and GMs to manage complete P&L.
- Maintain working knowledge of all items in rental inventory, including but not limited to rigging, truss, staging, conventional, moving lights, intelligent lighting consoles, LEDs, and effects.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years in supervisory and leadership experience managing various types of teams.
- Must have a clear understanding and proven track record of operating/leading a business from all aspects, with emphasis on sales.
- Familiarity with entertainment lighting and other special event equipment.
- Knowledge of respective local markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy, franchise systems and financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting are required.
- Knowledge of operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, repairs, maintenance, quality assurance programs and long-range planning.
- Must possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong ability to speak with poise.
- Must have exceptional leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and develop Operations Managers.
- Must be a strong motivator, with ability to execute strategic direction for the company and influence others in support of the strategy.
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability:
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends frequently.

- Position will require up to 50% travel.
