AUDIO SPECIALIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Summary 

The Audio Specialist will act as a resource for project teams across multiple 4Wall locations. This role supports strategic planning and execution for audio initiatives. The Audio Specialist will participate in project-specific duties, including system design, drafting, interfacing with clients to understand needs and order entry for audio systems, as well as show operation roles as needed.  This position also includes setting up, operating, and striking various types of audio systems used in live events, including speakers, amps, microphones, digital and analog mixers, comms systems, and DANTE networks. Systems will be prepped in a 4Wall shop based on event planning and location, and this role may include supervising both preparation and on-site installation.

Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent service to all customers, vendors, employees, and visitors at all times. 
  • Provide technical support for live event projects, including system design, staffing and implementation
  • Assist with the development of SOPs, work processes and the training of staff to support those processes effectively.

Personal Responsibilities

  • Advising the design and specification of audio initiatives from client concept to implementation, in coordination with Client, Sales, Project Management, and all other involved departments. Ex: equipment evaluation and system concept planning for next level audio systems.
  • Executing audio projects from pre-production to installation, tech, run, and strike of these systems.
  • Enter and maintain orders into inventory software system and communicate equipment requirements and timeframes to Operations and Logistics Departments.
  • Prepping audio systems in the shop and going on site to install and program.
  • Perform show operation positions on site as needed.  
  • Researching emerging audio technologies (including: media servers, camera, switching, video, networks, and connectivity)
  • Internal training, both performing and receiving.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Team Responsibilities

  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees. 
  • Maintain the highest level of customer relations.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to your direct supervisor
  • Coordinating with all onsite departments to facilitate their networking needs.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in entertainment audio.
  • Experience with L'Acoustics, Meyers, Yamaha, ClearCom, Riedel, Shure, Wisycom and D&B Systems preferred, but not required. 
  • DANTE Certification is preferred, but not required.  
  • Knowledge of modern live audio systems. 
  • Basic knowledge of audio related networking.  
  • Background in audio related console and processing programming.  
  • Ability to assess both speech and music reproduction.  
  • Background in venue specific audio design for temporary installation.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain friendly, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Must be able to effectively meet deadlines and goals.
  • Strong PC skills including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet.
  • Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs and other management directive

Physical Requirements

When in the office, the job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors, and a keyboard/mouse will be required. When on a show, the job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 75-100 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.

Availability

  • Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.  

Position Location and/or Territory and Travel

  • Travel will be required to support projects and other work. Most travel will be domestic and short duration, typically 1 – 5 days, with infrequent longer duration trips.
