JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Senior Director of AV Systems
Supervises: N/A

General Summary 

The Director of AV Engineering - Systems is responsible for providing technical leadership for the AV Systems department to ensure consistent, high-quality design across projects while mentoring the engineering team and supporting department/company growth.

This role requires superior AV product knowledge to assist 4Wall’s sales and technical staff. The person in this role will build relationships with both internal and external clients and strive to be a resource to all at 4Wall.

Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:

Personal Responsibilities

  • Continually learn about new and emerging video technology, keeping abreast of changes in the market.
  • Provide technical guidance during design, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure projects are engineered efficiently and accurately.
  • Provide support and expertise to all AV team members, sales staff, project managers and clients.
  • Design and oversee the build of custom AV systems for media servers, playback devices, record devices and video switching systems.
  • Lead and oversee system design standards across projects.
  • Educate and communicate with the sales staff, Technical Directors and Project Managers on best practices to implement new technology into their jobs.
  • Review and approve major engineering designs and documentation.
  • Maintain design consistency, quality, and best practices.
  • Advise sales staff and project managers on creating quotes for technical projects.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Team Responsibilities

  • Build and mentor the CAD/Engineering team.
  • Establish clear design workflows and standards.
  • Help recruit and onboard additional staff as needed.
  • Actively encourage and participate with employee engagement and culture building initiatives. 
  • Communicate in a positive, informative and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees.
  • Work in a safe manner per company policy and that meets OSHA standards and other governmental or regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • In depth knowledge of video projection, LED, cameras, image processing and video switching equipment including brands, uses, values, etc.
  • Knowledge of vendors, distributors, and all other suppliers related to 4Wall.
  • Substantial knowledge of 4Wall equipment, processes, and procedures.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized.
  • Ability to design AV systems in drafting software.
  • Attention to detail
  • Superior interpersonal skills to deal with both internal and external personnel.
  • Prior knowledge of Rental Works and/or the willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work on multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Experience in organizational best practice implementation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Physical Requirements

The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort. 

Availability:

  • Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.

Position Location and/or Territory and Travel:

  • Position is located in Moonachie, NJ.
  • Position will require limited travel but will be dependent on business requirements.

  • Based on the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), management has analyzed this position and determined it to be exempt due to the Administrative Exemption rule.
