Assistant Controller

General Summary
The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Corporate Controller & V.P of Finance & Accounting to ensure proper and timely accounting. The Assistant Controller is responsible for general accounting with a focus on, but not limited to, any of the following accounting divisions: General Ledger, Revenue, Payables, Payroll and Assets. Other duties include, but are not limited to, actively participating in the annual external audit process by providing support for sample selections, audit deliverables, etc.
Responsibilities of this position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Provide supervision to the general accounting departments.
- Maintaining GAAP and IFRS Compliance throughout assigned duties.
- Preparing financial reports pertaining to assigned work.
- Providing open communication with internal business partners.
- Researching accounting issues where necessary for compliance with generally accepted accounting principals.
- Examining and analyzing accounting and financial records, documents and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.
Personal Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries
- Preparing and reviewing Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Month-end closing processes
- Liaise with external auditors and prepare annual audit requirements and deliverables
- Prepare special reports as requested by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
- Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees.
- Attend and participate in Finance/Accounting meetings.
- Maintain the highest level of customer relations with internal and external customers.
- Providing leadership, training and development to finance and accounting staff.
Key Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and/or 5+ Years of verifiable accounting management experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
- Experienced and skilled in Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Knowledge of accounting software, MAS preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Intermediate or above Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Manage numerous priorities at once and be able to multi-task efficiently
- Critical thinking and decision-making ability to implement internal policies and processes
- Stable work background
- Must maintain GAAP and IFRS Compliance through assigned duties.
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives
Physical Requirements
- The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 2 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
- Position will require little to no travel.
