Driver/Trucking Coordinator

DRIVER/TRUCKING COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Summary 

The Driver/Trucking Coordinator has the primary responsibility for the efficient and timely transport of 4Wall equipment while providing excellent customer service per 4Wall quality standards and procedures. Additionally, the Driver/Trucking coordinator will be responsible for providing coordination, planning, and support for the Dock, Drivers and Check-in Departments. This role requires excellent organizational skills that ensure our team members are providing the very best customer service.   

Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:

Organizational Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and operate per 4Wall quality standards in all work activities.
  • Actively encourage and participate with employee engagement and culture-building initiatives.
  • Represent 4Wall professionally while dealing with customers onsite, over the phone, etc.

Personal Responsibilities

  • Drive company vehicles, up to 26,000lbs., to transport 4Wall equipment.
  • Arrive on time for all drop-off/pick-up arrangements.
  • Ability to comply with DOT requirements for CMV Drivers, including driver qualification documents, medical card, safety, logging of hours, etc. Ensure all drivers have the training and licenses required to operate their specific vehicles. Ensure all DOT regulations are being adhered to.
  • Perform all safety and vehicle checks prior to driving the vehicle.
  • Abide by all traffic and safety laws.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the vehicle.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the Operations Manager and/or Logistics Manager in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments via Common Carriers, 3PL, or Air Cargo shipments by choosing the most optimal shipping method to meet customer expectations & budgets.
  • Responsible for scheduling truck pick-ups/drop offs, as needed.
  • Generate accurate shipping labels and prepare bills of lading for all outbound and inbound orders.
  • Obtain multiple shipping quotes from vendors from standard pallet shipments to multiple 53’ truck orders; generate freight quotes for sales team.
  • Write POs for shipping vendors and manage to completion.
  • Communicate with sales staff and operations team on all logistics pertaining to orders.
  • With the team, successfully load/unload trucks.
  • Assist with shop duties when not driving including moving equipment within the warehouse by operating forklifts, pallet jacks and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Team Responsibilities

  • Learn and work in other departments within the Shop as requested by the Operations Manager or Shop Foreman.
  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees. 
  • Assist operations in keeping shop facility well maintained.
  • Wear the proper safety mask when painting at all times.
  • Actively check and respond to 4Wall email while on the clock.
  • Ensure all team members maintain accountability and the highest level of customer relations.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to your direct supervisor, Operations Manager, or General Manager.
  • Ensure that all employees, vendors, outside contractors, etc. are operating all job tasks, functions and equipment in a safe manner per company policy. 
  • Ensure that employees feel comfortable reporting any workplace hazards or safety concerns.

Key Requirements

  • At least 4 years of previous warehouse or dock management experience required, including leading drivers and warehouse employees.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse functions and operations, such as security and safety programs, loading docks, scheduling pick up/drop offs.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements.
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of the internet, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to learn new software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and support team members.
  • Must be able to give directions as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment without supervision.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be team-oriented and have great customer service skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of theatrical lighting, staging, rigging, and entertainment equipment is preferred.
  • Must be willing to remain clean shaven to wear a respirator and in order to pass the medical clearance for fit test.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.; duties include loading and unloading trucks.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

Physical Requirements

The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. Regular use of computer monitors, and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.

Availability

  • Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
