General Summary
The Collections / AR Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accounts receivable aging at their assigned locations while working to collect and minimize timely and past due payments. The position requires critical thinking and investigative skills to assist in determining and resolving customer disputes. The Collections / AR Specialist will provide a wide range of accounting functions as well as administrative and office support activities.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Providing excellent service through communication with customers.
Personal Responsibilities
- Communicate with customers diligently, courteously and professionally while collecting payments.
- Continous communication with Operations and assist with internal projects.
- Initiate strategies for collection processes and procedures.
- Work closely with customers to pay past due amounts.
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable staff when necessary to obtain further information to collect.
- Retain customer loyalty while initiating processes for collection of payments.
- Maintain and update record of customers from whom collections are made.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Prioritizing and multi-tasking.
- Problem assessment and problem solving.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
- Perform additional tasks to assist the Credit Analyst and Management at other locations as needed.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years of experience required
- Associate Degree Preferred
- Knowledge of accounting software, MAS 500 preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan and organize, prioritize, and problem solve
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required - ability to create formulas
- Stable work background is essential
- Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and recordkeeping
- Knowledge of AIA billing preferred but not required
- Must be able to multi-task
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors, and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 2 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
