General Summary
The Director of Special Projects’ primary role is to oversee project management, strategy, and development of the team and the workflow with the VP of Special Projects and other Account Executives to support clients and find business opportunities. This role is responsible for ensuring that all events and jobs requiring labor are adequately staffed with quality employees who will represent the company favorably and provide the best possible customer service.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Provide excellent service to existing clients to maintain and improve their relationship with the company.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge in both the workflow and operations of all projects for the Special Projects team.
- Maintain and operate 4Wall quality standard in all work activities.
Personal Responsibilities
- In coordination with the VP of Special Projects, proactively build strategic business relationships to obtain new and repeat customers. Plan and organize a sales strategy to develop revenue streams with new business contacts and customers.
- Enter and maintain orders into the inventory software system and communicate equipment requirements and timeframes to Operations and Logistics Departments.
- Assist clients in all aspects of creating a quality show, as needed, including equipment choices, review of show files, executing prep and trucking, ensuring quality control of equipment and labor offerings on-site
- Scheduling, coordination, and supervision of all crew chiefs, temporary, and contracted employees per the specifications of the event/job. Rectify any foreseen shortages in labor in a timely manner
- Take part in the strategy for ongoing development of both technology and workflow.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Team Responsibilities
- Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all clients, vendors, and 4Wall employees
- Ensure that all employees, vendors, outside contractors, etc. are operating all job tasks, functions and equipment in a safe manner per company policy. Ensure that employees feel comfortable reporting any work place hazards or safety concerns
Key Requirements:
- Understanding and knowledge of theatrical lighting, staging, rigging, and entertainment equipment is required.
- Experience in entertainment lighting industry is required.
- Proficiency in project and task management, and applications such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD/Vectorworks and inventory software systems.
- Must be extremely organized and have excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to be a self-starter, adapt to rising challenges and own all aspects of a project
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort. When the employee is on-site, the position will require to regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 25-50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. On-site, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate.
Availability:
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
