DIRECTOR OF MEDIA SERVER TECHNOLOGY

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Summary

The Director of Media Server Technology is responsible for leading 4Wall’s media server working group. Oversee a team of technology specialists that provide software and hardware guidance and content specs nationally the PM and Sales teams. Also responsible for designing, configuring, prepping, programming, executing, and providing long term support for media server, video, networking, engineering, and show control systems.

Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Providing excellent service to all customers, vendors, employees, and visitors at all times.

Personal Responsibilities:

  • Advising the design and specification of media server systems from client concept to implementation, in coordination with Client, Sales, Project Management, and all other involved departments.
  • Producing content templates for clients based on the overall system design, in coordination with sales, engineering, and project management. Developing and maintaining procedures for creating and sharing content templates, to be used by 4 Wall technologists to create content templates nationwide.
  • Executing media servers and video projects from pre-production to installation, tech, run, and strike of these systems.
  • Prepping media server and video systems in the shop, and going on site to install and program.
  • Building and leading teams of media server technicians, content managers, and programmers, on a project basis.
  • Designing and implementing show control systems for staging, broadcast, corporate, and systems installation.
  • Overseeing IP Networking policies across video and media server rental inventory.
  • Researching emerging technologies (including: media servers, video, networking equipment, etc…)
  • Attending industry related events (such as LDI) to learn, teach, and ensure the department’s close connection with media server manufacturers, as well as emerging technologies.
  • Advising about strategic purchasing of media server video and networking infrastructure.
  • Work with Manufacturers to initiate training for staff and freelancers
  • Deliver successful outcomes for clients that helps foster customer loyalty
  • Other duties as assigned.

Team Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinating with salespeople and the labor department for strategic booking of technology specialists and programmers, to identify and create environments where staff can learn and grow while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer relations.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to your direct supervisor or General Manager
  • Coordinating with all onsite departments to facilitate their networking needs

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in entertainment lighting, staging and video business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain friendly, professional demeanor at all times
  • Must be able to effectively meet deadlines and goals
  • Strong PC skills including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet.
  • Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs and other management directives.

Physical Requirements

The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 2 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.

Availability:

  • Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
