4Wall Systems Team Provides Color to Aria Resort & Casino at CityCenter Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV- 4Wall Entertainment provided a splash of color to Aria at the new CityCenter Las Vegas. Aria, which opened December 16, 2009, contains 4,004 guest rooms, a 150,000 square ft casino, 300,000 square ft of meeting space, an 80,000 square ft salon, and a plethora of pools, restaurants and bars, and has received a LEED Gold Certification.
The 4Wall Systems Team supplied 2,180 ft of Color Kinetics MX Power core to light the four extremities of the building. The glowing glass corridor ends were designed by Brandston Partnership Inc, with control system design and programming by 4Wall Entertainment.
Buddy Pope, Senior Project Manager, discussed the challenges of programming a lighting system spread out over several hundred thousand square feet. “We used a Pharos LPC1 as a front end. Because we had too ‘see’ what we were programming, we set up a wireless network so all programming could be done from the exterior of the building. Programming was fairly straightforward using network based DMX distribution. The time consuming part was setting fixture addresses across 155 total floors. We had pre-addressed and marked all the fixtures as to location and level, but there were the inevitable corrections that had to be made once everything was installed.”
The recently opened CityCenter is the largest private construction project in the USA. The 67 acre resort encompasses Aria Resort & Casino, Mandarin Oriental, Vdara Hotel & Spa, The Harmon Hotel, Veer Towers, and Crystals Retail and Entertainment.
