4Wall LA Provides WoW Factor at Blizzcon 2010

Los Angeles, CA- When lighting a sold-out event, there is always pressure on the designer and his equipment to enhance and define the performance. When lighting an event that sold out in 11 seconds, has over 20,000 live attendees, and is streamed worldwide live on four different pay per view channels via DirecTV? That situation requires absolute perfection.

Designer Arnold Serame and 4Wall Los Angeles were up to just that task in providing lighting for Blizzcon, the yearly convention presented by Blizzard Entertainment to celebrate their online gaming properties that include World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo.

The convention, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, provides not only the unveiling of new game features, but also a one of a kind top tier gaming experience for those lucky enough to attend. To light the 670,000 square feet of activities, Serame knew he would need a lighting provider who could help him achieve more impact than the previous year.

Serame said of the search for this company, “We undertook a rigorous request for quote process that in the end revealed that 4Wall LA had all the qualities we were looking for: substantial inventory, transparent and competitive pricing, real time inventory tracking, and amazing personnel.”

The two day event sprawled over four convention center halls that included five separate stages, with the largest stage having seating for over 12,000. One of the halls even featured gaming stations as far as the eye could see. To create different looks for the halls and stages Serame chose a variety of gear, from conventional Source 4 Pars and Lekos to LED Moving heads such as Mac 301 Washes. Control was provided by a whopping 5 Grand MA Consoles.

So did the lighting provide the impact Serame was hoping for?

“I knew I had achieved my goal when I repeatedly heard Blizzard fans walking into the show saying ‘Look at it! There are WAY more lights here than last year!”

Mission accomplished.
